The Happy Child Foundation was founded in 2005 to keep the family's memory alive and to perpetuate
the happiness, joy and love that there was so much of by helping underprivileged children in Thailand.
We want to provide them with a safe and loving upbringing with opportunity for a good education and a bright future.
Happy Child Foundation has since 2005 chosen to support Happy Child Home in Phuket, Thailand.
Happy Child Home is a home that was also founded in 2005 and is run by Susanne Janson and Hans Forsell.

All board members have a close relationship with the Jansson-Falk family, who are the initiators of Happy Child
and who were personally affected by the Tsunami in 2004. They also have a close and genuine relationship with
Happy Child Home and especially with the children who live there. All board members work voluntarily.
Susanne Karlfeldt - Chairman
I came into contact with Happy Child in 2015 when I volunteered at Happy Child Home for four months.
I knew even before I left that this experience would affect me in many ways, but I had no idea the extent of the impact my 4 months at Happy Child Home would have. Seeing with my own eyes what a difference it makes for a child to have a secure schooling, food, housing, clothes on the body and lots of love filled me with enormous warmth.
I want to do everything I can to help and follow these lovely children as they grow up. I do this, among other things, by selling my diary from my time at Happy Child Home and letting the entire surplus go to the foundation, and through my position as chairman of the Happy Child Foundation.
Ulla-Britta Wetterholm - Secretary
I am the mother of Sussi Janson and grandmother of Eleonor and Josefin, my beloved grandchildren who disappeared in the tsunami in 2004 - the worst time of my life.
Sussi and Hans went down to Thailand a few months after the Tsunami, stayed and since then they run Happy Child Home together with Wow.
I am proud and happy that I get to be on the board of Happy Child and thus help. The sadness and loss will always be there, but our beloved family lives on in every child who gets the opportunity to give her- or himself a better life through Happy Child Home.
Susanne Janson - Boardmember
I have run Happy Child Home together with Hans, Wow and our fantastic staff since the beginning.
I lost my two daughters Eleonor and Josefin, their father Johan, his wife Sara, Sara's daughter Matilda and Johan and Sara's son Lukas in the tsunami in 2004.
When I realized I had lost Eleonor and Josefin, my life in Sweden ended - that and the memory of all the help and love we received when we were in Thailand looking for our family made us decide to travel back and help on the spot.
As many of us mourned our family, the Happy Child Foundation was formed to honor their memory by working to give the children at Happy Child Home a safe and loving upbringing with the opportunity for education and a brighter future.
Calle Wollgård - Boardmember
I came into contact with Happy Child for the first time in 2008, in connection with my first period as a volunteer at Happy Child Home.
In the fall of 2009, I returned to Happy Child Home for a second term and felt that this was a place I never wanted to let go.
Therefore, it was natural to start and carry out the fundraising projects Happy Walk - a walk from Bangkok to Happy Child Home in Phuket, Happy Tour - a cycling adventure from Sweden to Happy Child Home in Phuket and finally The Happy World Tour - around the world on cycle with start and finish at Happy Child Home in Phuket. In the spring of 2018, I was asked to become part of Happy Child's board. This now gives me the opportunity to, together with a fantastic group of people, continue the work of raising money for the foundation and our children at Happy Child Home.
Emil Jansson - Boardmember
My first contact with Happy Child was as a volunteer in 2012.
I chose to return and volunteer 4 more times between 2013 - 2016.
Through Happy Child I became good friends with Calle and chose to cycle the last 1000 miles of Happy World Tour together with him. Since 2012, I have also had time to visit on several occasions and, through my time at Happy Child Home, have created a close relationship with both staff and children.
In 2019, I became a board member of the Happy Child Foundation, which has given me the opportunity to continue helping all my children at Happy Child Home from Sweden.
Majken Tammisto - Boardmember
I have known Happy Child since its inception and the first time I visited the home was already in the fall of 2005.
In the years that followed I yearned to go back and when I graduated in 2011 it was time again, this time as a volunteer.
For four months I lived at Happy Child Home and became even more involved in both the home and the organization behind it.
I have been part of the board of the Happy Child Foundation since 2020 and it feels fantastic to be involved from the other side of the world - and to be able to contribute to the continued development of Happy Child Home.
The reason for my involvement is based on the close friendship I had with above all Josefin but also her sister Eleonor and the rest of the family who disappeared in the 2004 tsunami.

Eva Petterson - Treasurer
I am the treasurer of the Happy Child Foundation.
I am also Sussi Janson's aunt. After the tsunami, I was forced to realize that I would never get to see Sussi's daughters Eleonor and Josefin again, which meant an unimaginably great sadness and loss.
At the formation of the Happy Child Foundation, in 2005, I was asked if I wanted to be the treasurer. It feels good to be able to keep the memory of the family alive in this way and at the same time help other children.
As treasurer, it feels very good that everyone in the Happy Child Foundation works on a voluntary basis and that the collected funds go almost entirely to our children at Happy Child Home. Since the start, our costs have amounted to only 2.5% of revenue.
